The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. Why do some people follow their instincts and win, while others end up stumbling into error? How do our brains really work - in the office, in the classroom, in the kitchen, in the debroom? And why are the best decisions often those that are impossible to explain.
Americans are abundantly gifted with the ability to lead an intellectual life, but pervasive commercialism, a reluctance to embrace personal responsibility, and a politically correct culture of mindless dependence on received ideas have robbed many Americans of their ability to think.
Our overriding concern in this book is to gain insight into the role played in creative leaps by the networked idea-spaces of the extended mind. We want to understand how embedded intelligence can create a space to think with in the pursuit of radically new ideas, just as the culturally embedded myth of Lono shaped what the Hawaiians thought of Cook. But first we need to take a second look at an issue of creativity, that perhaps by default (because we can't think of a better explanation), most of us continue to attribute major creative leaps to genius. Is it possible that this idea, which has such a hold on our thinking, really can throw some light on creativity, or can we now replace it with a more insightful explanation?
Currently we look at the human brain the same way as ancient people looked at the sky. We don't have a clue. ... We have to understand Intelligence first, before we try to build an intelligent machine. Predictability and not behavior is the main feature of Intelligence.
When I was reading the book, where it describes how and what kind of deals the bankers were doing, I begin to understand how Jesus must have felt, when he became angry with the merchant inside the Church. I  never understood why Jesus became angry with people who just wanted to make a living. The think is that those people were not there just to make a living, they were ignorant about the public in general and were only interested to become rich, without any regards for the common people.
